Project Management

The Professional Development Center at Portland State University offers Oregon’s leading program of project management courses designed for working professionals. We have an established reputation for high-quality programs and student satisfaction.

The Project Management Certificate offers a combination of project planning and tracking tools, along with communication, leadership, and conflict management skills to give project managers the balance they need to be successful and continue to improve. We expose you to a variety of ways to approach project management, rather than focus on a one-size-fits-all methodology. We offer day and evening courses in downtown Portland and daytime courses in Beaverton. We offer our courses in a suggested sequence, but you are free to mix and match course offerings to suit your schedule and preference. To earn the certificate, simply complete all four required courses within a three-year period.

The Advanced Project Management Certificate returns this fall with an expanded lineup of one- and two-day seminars focused on a variety of practical approaches to project management. One-day courses are seven hours long; two-day courses are 14 hours long. Mix and match your choice of sessions to complete at least 42 course hours to earn our Advanced Project Management certificate. This program is intended for all professionals, not just those planning to earn PMP® certification. However, one option in this program is the two-day PMP® Exam Prep course, which you should consider strongly if you are pursuing PMI’s internationally recognized certification. This course, along with all of our courses, can be used to satisfy PMP® education requirements.  Our programs are compatible with the Project Management Institute (PMI) approach, but they are not prep classes for the PMP exam, except PMP® Exam Prep course.

How can you earn our certificates?  Simply complete the required courses, which we offer multiple times during the year in day and evening schedules. There is no program application. Simply register for courses and begin. We can also bring our courses onsite to your organization or group. Please check the links in the menu to learn more about our courses and certificates.
